He holds a light, in his hand, so bright
Filled with memories, the dreams, and all those smiles
Tracing a finger through the truth he lived by
A flicker, a stutter, and it was gone
Now there was darkness, so vivid, so deep
He tried to move but he had forgotten that he couldn't see
Reaching out towards the memories that were had
Did not remember it was what he could not have
It was desperate, he had no choice, he called out
To the darkness beyond, he kept falling out
Breaking apart countless times, an eternity passed by
Could not see, could not feel, it was the end
Filled to the brim, yet empty on the brink
A feeling of amnesia, he had lost all that was him
Regret drowning all sense, washing away what remained
Felt nothing anymore, it was his hell
Accepting his pain, his burden, his fate
Clutching the light, in his scarred, ragged faith
Making a wish, for the impossible, what could not be
For light to shine again, through the darkness with empathy
A moment, a two, and another eternity passed
There was no point in hoping it seemed, another useless task
A bitter embrace, threatening to break, to give in
Then a flicker, a stutter, and it was back
An ember, a speck, a dot in the gloom around
But as he held it close to his heart, he felt sound
Remembering again, the reasons that were lost
Promising not to leave, no matter what the cost
